final notes for 2007

In less than 4 hours a new year will be heralded in while the current year will take a step back.

Yea, was actually thinking of noting down all the stuff which i achieve this year but i think i just focus on 1. Yea, i have graduated. Its been a long journey but its over. The future looks kinda uncertain but i am taking things as they come.

That's all for this year!

Bye bye 2006 and welcome 2007.

graduated...

Yea its official i have graduated.

The feeling have not sunk in yet so i don't really feel anything yet. Maybe my spirits have dampened a little bit due to the so far unsuccessful job hunt.

Anyway, it isn't that bad considering that i should really be starting my job search right about now and i am sure that things will work out in the end.

that's all for today

i am squall...

There's a lot of this kind of "who-are-you" online quizzes which determines which anime or computer character closely resembles you. I tried this final fantasy quiz and found out that i am:

busy

Nearly a month since my last update. Been busy with essays, tests, orals and term paper. Things should slow down after 14th November.

***

Enough about work, i just recently pre-order a Suzumiya Haruhi 1/8 PVC figure from Maxfactory through HLJ. The first run is limited to 5000 pieces only and hopefully i get first run. Initially, i did not want to really get it cos i my favourite character is Nagato but the figure look good so i decided to get it anyway.

Should be getting my IWSP Strike Gundam 1/100 from V2HW soon. I am planning to get the Strike Freedom SP Option Parts MG 1/100 which is going about S$110+ but am hesistating cos i have to bare in mind that i still have to pay (about S$65) for the Ingnis 1/8 PVC from alter which should be arriving in the next few weeks. Considering my financial uncertainty after December i think it would be prudent to hold off anymore purchases for the time being.

All good things

Had watched the last episode of ouran. Really like the series and am quite sad that it has come to an end. Although, the last episode is quite good.

***

Along the same vein, today is the last day of the recess week. Not quite sure if i had wasted the recess week or did i make good use of it? Well, this is what i did this week:
  • Memorize 20 new chinese characters on monday. By saturday i had forgotten how to write those new characters (plus the 120 characters i had already known). Practice writing the 120 characters (again). So before the holiday i knew 120 characters then i learnt 20 new characters then i forgot the 140 characters and finally i relearn the initially 120 characters: 120(initial) +20 -20 -120 +120 = 120!!! No improvements at all but i did reinforce what i had already learnt so i think that counts
  • German, had practise listening to the nummer over in e-daf and getting better in writing those nummer down. So i sorta improved!
  • Read history notes and the concepts getting clearer
Not bad lah. Considering that i had taken ill during the first few days of the recess week.

Tomorrow marked the beginning of another 6 more weeks of lectures and tutorials. After that would be the finals. But the next 2-3 weeks gonna be tough. Next week i got a german midterm. The following week i got a paper due and my thesis presentation. The week after that will be another midterm. The first week of November my final history essay is due.

Yea its gonna be a fun month.

secondary school days: mosquito court

I fondly remember my secondary school days. Those days were great. Ok not so great academically.

***

Nearly everyday after the end of the evening school assembly the guys (kerng soon, suhairi, max, wee yong, doraemon/stanley, Steeve, Fadil, Ilham, shaun and the rest) and myself would head down to our little secret place to play soccer. The place was situated just beside the NPCC 30 metre firing range. We lovingly called the placed "Mosquito Court". You do not need to be a genius to figure the reason why it was called that.

***

2 months ago i had some free time, had finished my Thesis, i made my way to my old school to reminisce abit. I was expecting the "Mosquito Court" to be demolished but i was pleasantly surprised that it was still standing. The basketball hoops are no longer there but the place itself remains unchanged. Though it would probably be demolished soon so that an expressway or carpark could be built through it. Yes screw the mosquito court because nothing absolutely nothing should get in the way of progress (very sad).

If only we could play there one final time...

you must be Filipino

Had gone to the barber to get my hair cut. Those who have their hair cut by a barber would know that it is mandatory for the barber to initiate a conversation with his customer (uhm the cuttee?). Anyway, here's my conversation with the barber:

Barber: Not working today?
Me: No, i am....
(cut of mid sentence by the barber)

Barber: Boy are you burmese? how's the weather there?
Me: I am singaporean.

Barber: Can't be you don't look like one. You must be filipino then. Yes thats right you are filipino.
Me: Uhm i am ...
(cut of mid sentence by the barber)

Barber: Boy you married?
Me: Uhm no
Barber: Why? Get married quickly and have children

By the end of the hair cut i had become a filipino who is an officer in the SAF. Why didn't i correct him? Well, he is holding on to a pair scissors and a rule of thumb is that the guy holding the sharpest weapon is always right.

***

Strangely enough, the above is not an isolated incident. Even my friends thought that i am a ,uhm, foreign talent (ha ha!!). Specifically, they thought i am burmese. Never been to burma nor do i know any burmese but if what everyone saying is right i just need to look at the mirror to know how someone from burmese would look like.

shortcuts

About a year ago, Arts Central had organised a massive short-short-movie competition. Short-short because the movie runtime must not exceed 1 minute. The top 10 entries will each received S$500.

***

I do not know why but i took up my trusty S$75.00 1.2MP BENQ digital camera and started shooting a movie. The end product was not too bad considering that it was very much a one man show.

The movie has absolutely no plot and it was shot on a whim with no planning at all. The only thing you will learnt from it is that you have just wasted 1 minute of your life watching it.

Extensive planning was done prior to the filming. The movie was shot in the first person view and i would classify it as a comedy. A tongue in cheek look at something very ordinary. Despite it being a comedy it does raised a few thought provoking issues on our society and i assure you that by the end of the film the viewers would have learnt an invaluable lesson about life and would be a better individual because of it (yeah, right).

Sadly though, i did not send it in.

its been awhile...

Hady is the new singapore idol.

***

Yea, its been awhile. Since the last update i am now:
  • able to converse, a little, in both deutsch(guten tag) and chinesisch(你好吗?)
  • eating sensibly (no more greasy pratas)
  • 2kg lighter
  • 2 kg heavier, uhm so my weight + 2kg - 2kg = the same!!!
Now its the term/recess break and from here onwards its just 7 more weeks till the end of the semester. Hopefully, everything goes well and i will get my degree at the end of this year.

Its still to early to reflect on the past few years, i would probably do that around mid december, but i am going to make the last few weeks a good one (in terms of effort). Yea that's it for today got to hit the books.

CORS

CORS are back. Not the irish band but an online registration portal used for lecture/tutorial registration. Have chosen the modules which i am interested in though i do not think that i would be able to get all the modules which i have opted for. Just have to wait for the email to let me know about the good or/and bad result.

***

Have added a "viewing" section on the right column of this site. This are the list of anime i am currently watching. The list does not include those which i have dropped or those which have ended its run. I gather if i include those the list will be a very long one.

Lion King?

This Lion is huge. Saw it when i was leaving the forum's co-op. The reason he is wearing a mortar cap is because of the convocation 2006, which ended last week.

!

Even for a non-driver, like myself, one should be able to make out the meanings of most of the road signs which are littered around the streets of singapore. But for the life of me i can't figure this one out. Thank god for wikipedia...

Scrubbed Exhaust

Found this suspicious looking exhaust pipe outside my lab. Seeing that most engineering undergraduate are not getting any this is the next best thing...

Speak English?

"Excuse me do you speak english?" said the scruffy stranger. His question was posed to me while i was on my way home this evening.

I was carrying a hard cover bound book with the words "Separation Process Principles" emblazoned on its spine...

On top of the book is a copy of today's edition of the TODAY's free newspaper...

"No, i don't speak English", i reply with a sigh. Shaking my head while i continue on my journey.
